ATLANTA (WXIA) -- The Atlanta Public School Board fired the first person in the test cheating scandal at a meeting Wednesday morning.

An APS tribunal heard the case for Damany Lewis two weeks ago and recommended his termination.

Lewis is a former seventh grade teacher at Parks Middle School in southwest Atlanta. He confessed to opening CRCT booklets with a razor blade and copying the tests.

A tribunal for another APS teacher is scheduled for tomorrow.
Several others have resigned rather than be fired.
