ATHENS, Ga. -- A 20-year-old Tucker man drove his company's refrigerated ice cream truck into the overhang of a Chick-fil-A on Barnett Shoals Road in Athens Friday night, causing at least $1,000 in damage.
The driver steered the truck through the drive-thru, even after a restaurant employee told him the truck was too tall, police said.
When the truck became lodged in the overhang, the driver took off. A Chick-fil-A employee jumped in his car and followed the truck, waving him down by honking his horn, flashing his lights and waving his arms out the window, according to police.
The driver, whose name was not released, eventually pulled over. Police charged him with hit and run.
