Helping those affected by the Turkish earthquake

ATLANTA -- After Sunday's massive magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Turkey, people all over the world want to help those affected.

In the hours following the quake, Turkish television journalist Erhan Çelik asked his 22,000 Twitter followers if any would be able to offer accomodation to victims of the quake, using a hashtag that would spread word across the entire Twitterverse.

Hours later, Çelik tweeted, "There are 17,000 mails in my inbox. I'll send them all to the Istanbul governorate. I thank you all in the name of earthquake victims."

Facebook has also played a role in garnering support from around the world, with a number of groups sprouting on their network to marshal assistance.

Several charitable organizations around the world are working pull together resources for those affected in Turkey. We'll add additional information and resources below as they become available.
