Buses forced to drive over curb due to tight turn.
Dramatic progress has been made at an Acworth intersection by the Cobb County D.O.T. Last November, 11Alive viewer Mike Adams pointed out two potentially dangerous problems at the corner of Due West Road and Mars Hill Road. After the story aired on 11Alive, Cobb County Transportation officials revisited the intersection and made some very helpful changes.
ORIGINAL STORY: 11/10/11
When Due West Road at Mars Hill Road in Acworth was widened and a turn lane added, local drivers were excited to experience the improved traffic flow. But a turn signal was never installed and some feel congestion during peak hours is worse now than before. But that's not the only issue here. Commuter Mike Adams says the acute angled intersection requires drivers turning from Mars Hill to Due West to have an extremely narrow turn radius. So he contacted Team Commuter Dude for help.
