Sanger police said an officer noticed a car parked in front of the church early Monday morning and, thinking that was unusual, made contact with the driver. That's when, according to police, Travis was found with an open bottle of wine. Officers also reported a distinct smell of alcohol.
Tom Reedy with the Denton County Sheriff's Department said Sanger officers took him to Denton where he was booked into the county jail at 1:30 a.m. Monday. Travis was released a few hours later.
Police said Travis was at his girlfriend's house before he was arrested.
Travis apologized in a statement to the Associated Press, for "what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl."
According to the Associated Press, Travis begins a concert tour Friday, and says he is "committed to being responsible and accountable."
