ATLANTA -- The Sims family was already pumped to be at their very first Braves game on Memorial Day. Then they were taken down onto the field, where they planned to see a taped greeting from their dad. He'd been deployed to Afghanistan for the last six months.
"I hope you're having a good time here with the Atlanta Braves, I can't wait to be with you again," Master Sergeant Dave Sims said. "In fact, wait one minute."
He then stepped off the screen and onto Turner Field. He was rushed and almost knocked over by his wife and four kids. Afterward, Sims said he appreciated the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers who allowed him to celebrate with his family at a Braves game. He also thanked his wife.
"For the past six months, she's done such a good job of taking care of the kids and the house," Sims said. "I'm so proud of her, she is my hero."
