Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros placed outfielder Travis
Buck on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 29, with right Achilles
tendinitis on Saturday.
Buck has appeared in 33 games for the Astros this season after signing with
the team as a minor league free agent in the offseason. He has a .216 average
with five doubles, a triple, six RBI and seven runs scored.
His .538 average as a pinch-hitter is tops in the majors.
To fill the roster spot, Houston recalled outfielder Fernando Martinez from
Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Martinez was hitting .319 with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 38 runs batted
through 51 games with the RedHawks this season.
Over 47 career MLB games for the New York Mets from 2009-11, Martinez has a
.183 average with eight doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI.
