ATLANTA -- Dole Food Company has voluntarily recalled thousands of bags of lettuce because of a possible listeria contamination.
The lettuce is sold at only two stores, Kroger and Walmart, and the recall extends to six states: Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
Three specific brands are affected: Kroger Fresh Selections Greener Supreme (Code N158 211B 1613 KR04 and UPC 11110 91039); Kroger Fresh Selections Leafy Romaine (Code N158 111B KR11 and UPC 11110 91046) and Walmart Marketside Leafy Romaine (Code N158111B and UPC 81131 02781).
All three recalled products have a use-by date of June 19th.
According to a press release from Dole, no illnesses have been reported from the lettuce, but a sample in North Carolina tested positive for the bacteria.
