ATLANTA -- Traffic on I-85 northbound resumed after the roadway was blocked for several hours Saturday evening due to a serious accident that the driver of an SUV in critical condition.
The Georgia Department of Transportation says the the driver was ejected from the vehicle, and was taken from the accident scene to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta in critical condition.
Traffic backups at their height from the wreck extended all the way back to the Peachtree/Pine Street exit on the Downtown Connector.
Police allowed traffic to resume its normal flow at about 9:30 pm.
