Losing Hope - 11Alive Special Report

Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally -- HOPE -- is Georgia's scholarship program that rewards outstanding students and encourages them to remain in the state of Georgia to further their collegiate studies. The program provides financial assistance for collegiate and post-secondary studies at Georgia's colleges, univeristies and technical institutions.

Georgia's HOPE program is funded by funds from the Georgia Lottery -- which also funds Georgia's Pre-K program.

Recent developments indicate that the program may be hit by some of the same budgetary problems that have plagued other state government agencies and programs over the past few years.
