Each year, one out of 57 women in our community is affected by a gynecologic cancer like ovarian cancer. "For the Women We Love" is hosting their annual Walk For the Women We Love on Saturday, June 1st at Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville. Registration begins at 7am on June 1st, and the race starts at 8am. Registration is $30, and registered participants will receive a walk T-Shirt and walk bag and admission to the Festival which follows the walk. Buddy Check is our initiative here at the station to promote breast health. On the 11th of every month we remind our viewers to do their monthly breast self exams, to have an annual mammogram and to call their "Buddy" to remind them to do their self-exam too! Regular breast self-exams are such an important step for the early detection of breast cancer. One in eighteen women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection is critical! So here is your reminder-do your self exam and call a buddy-a friend, relative or co-worker today to remind them too.
On Saturday, June 1st, put on your walking shoes and join the men and women walking in Marietta for a great cause! The Walk of Women (WOW) will start near Kennestone Hospital at the Kenmore Medical Center on Campbell Hill Street in Marietta at 830am. Proceeds from the WOW will benefit Atlanta area women receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatment for a gynecologic cancer. The 36th annual Atlanta Jazz Festival features some of today's most vibrant and innovative jazz artists on two stages for three full days over Memorial Day Weekend, May 25-27. For 18 years, MUST Ministries has been providing meals for hungry children through their Summer Lunch program in the Metro-Atlanta area. This year, the goal is an amazing 250,000 sack lunches made and delivered in eight counties, but they need your help.
