Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Samme Givens had a strong game with 14
points and 13 rebounds in Drexel's 12th straight victory, 63-56 over James
Madison at the Convocation Center.
Frantz Massenat scored 16 and Damion Lee had 12 for the Dragons (20-5, 12-2
CAA), who won for the 18th time in their last 19 contests. Drexel won despite
shooting 39.6 percent, although the Dragons made half of their 22 shots in the
second half.
A.J. Davis had 13 points and Humpty Hitchens 11 for the Dukes (10-16, 3-11),
who lost for the fifth straight time. Enoch Hood and Devon Moore both scored
nine in a losing cause.
A layup from Davis had the Dukes within 31-30 with 17:06 remaining, but the
Dragons then embarked on a 22-7 spurt to take command. Massenat capped the
rally with a steal and dunk with 8:47 left. The Dukes didn't get closer than
seven the rest of the way.
James Madison committed 15 turnovers and was severely outplayed in the paint,
giving up 28 points and scoring only 14. Additionally, Drexel held a 35-28
rebounding advantage.
The Dragons were ahead 26-24 at the half despite making just 10-of-31 shots
over the opening 20 minutes.
